What’s New in iplicit? A Look at the Latest Features and Improvements

4GL Concepts | iplicit Product update | April to October 2026
Cloud accounting software continues to evolve, and over the past six months, iplicit has introduced a range of new features and improvements designed to make life easier for finance teams.
From AI-powered invoice checks and smarter budgeting to improved reporting, procurement and a refreshed user interface, the latest updates focus on reducing manual work, strengthening financial controls and making information easier to access.
Whether you are already using iplicit or considering a move to a modern cloud accounting solution, here are some of the developments worth knowing about.
1. Smarter invoice processing with AI Detect
One of the more interesting developments is AI Detect, introduced in beta and made available to all customers in May 2026.
The feature reviews purchase invoices and flags potential issues, including duplicate invoices, unusually high invoice values, transactions involving new suppliers and entries made outside normal business hours.
For busy finance teams, this adds an extra layer of checking without relying entirely on manual reviews.
Alongside AI Detect, iplicit has improved its accounts payable automation, including supplier matching, purchase order matching and document validation. These changes are designed to make invoice processing more accurate and reduce the time spent correcting exceptions.
2. Greater control with improved budgeting
Budgeting has also seen significant development.
The newer Budgeting module introduces more proactive spending controls, including the ability to check purchase orders and purchase requisitions against available budgets before expenditure is committed.
Other improvements include multi-entity budgeting, easier creation of forecasts and budget revisions, Excel import templates and additional options for analysing budgets by different attributes.
The October release also introduced clearer overspend warnings and improved audit logging, giving finance teams better visibility when proposed purchases exceed their budgets.
For organisations managing multiple departments, projects or legal entities, these enhancements can help make budgeting a more useful part of day-to-day financial decision-making.
The newer Budgeting module is separate from the legacy Budgets module and is available on request.
3. Better financial visibility with Executive Finance
The July release introduced Executive Finance, a beta dashboard powered by iplicit Insights.
It brings key financial performance indicators together in one place, providing finance leaders with a clearer overview of financial performance without having to work through multiple reports.
For senior management teams, having important figures presented in a single dashboard can make regular financial reviews more straightforward.
The feature is being rolled out in phases and requires the appropriate user permissions.
4. A refreshed look and feel
The October 2026 release brings a significant visual refresh to iplicit, with updated colours, typography, icons and navigation.
The changes are designed to make the platform easier to navigate, improve readability and provide a more consistent experience across different areas of the system.
Although visual changes might seem less important than new functionality, a clearer interface can make a real difference for people using accounting software every day.
5. More efficient purchasing and procurement
Another useful addition is Procurement Punchout, introduced in July.
This allows users to access supported supplier catalogues, including Amazon UK, KCS, Findel and HBS, from within iplicit and bring selected products directly into purchase orders.
Rather than manually entering product descriptions, prices and other details, purchasing teams can work with information from the supplier catalogue while retaining iplicit's purchasing and approval controls.
For organisations processing regular purchase orders, this could help reduce administrative work and improve accuracy.
6. Improvements to VAT, reconciliation and financial controls
Not every important software improvement needs to be a headline feature.
Recent updates to iplicit's VAT processing include clearer validation messages, additional safeguards around draft returns and improved visibility of which VAT return contains a particular transaction.
An optional Tax Return column in the Trial Balance and Balance Sheet enquiries also makes it easier to trace transactions when carrying out reconciliations or preparing for an audit.
Meanwhile, new automatic allocation functionality can match outstanding customer and supplier receipts or credits against invoices, helping reduce manual allocation work.
These are practical improvements that can make everyday accounting processes more efficient and easier to review.
7. More flexibility for growing businesses
The latest releases also include improvements that may be particularly useful for organisations with more complex financial requirements.
These include enhancements to fund management, greater control over accounting periods, improvements to the Cin7 Core integration and more flexibility when managing recurring transactions.
For example, individual lines within recurring invoice and journal templates can now be paused, resumed or cancelled, making it easier to manage changing subscriptions and regular charges.
iplicit has also expanded its support for importing and maintaining financial data, helping businesses manage information more efficiently as their requirements evolve.
What does this mean for businesses reviewing their finance software?
What stands out from these updates is the continued focus on practical improvements.
Better automation, stronger controls, easier access to financial information and more flexible workflows are all areas that matter to businesses looking to modernise their accounting systems.
For organisations still using older on-premise software, these developments also demonstrate how a modern cloud accounting platform can continue to introduce new capabilities without the traditional disruption of major software upgrades.
Of course, the right solution will depend on your organisation's requirements, existing systems and the way your finance team operates.
